CAMP PENDLETON, CA – Corporal Shawn Love gives his guys a primer on the five C's of improvised explosive device (IED) response during a prolonged security stop in the belly of his amphibious assault vehicle at Camp Pendleton on February 24, 2015. The five C's; confirm there's a potential threat, clear a 300-m meter perimeter around the perceived threat, call date, time and grid coordinates for bomb techs to respond to, cordon off the area so other warriors and non-combatants can't interfere with the scene, and control, which basically means to secure the area and, if possible, identify any other/secondary potential hazards.
